The most dangerous place in the world for a child with a disability….

I often think about the incredible odds my son came up against to arrive safely in my arms the day he was born.

There is a 50/50 chance in Australia that I'd have scanned prenatally.

There was statistically a 90% chance as his mother I'd have had an abortion if I'd known his diagnosis.

The most dangerous place in the world for a child with a disability is in the womb.

So many unborn babies without Down syndrome don't make it through first trimester, but mine rocked his extra chromosome all the way before entering the world in 10 minutes flat.

When he decides to hustle, the whole world moves for him. And I'm so glad he made it here safely.

He is one child in a thousand, and I don’t ever forget that.
